Blended Learning encompasses a wide variety of learning spaces and experiences and comes in many forms, some blended learning examples include:
  • a teacher digitally records and posts lessons online to provide student access to course material anytime;
  • a student in an online course meets with a teacher and fellow students in a campus setting for a face-to-face seminar;
  • an outreach teacher’s self-paced paper and digital course includes campus-based tutorial time;
  • a teacher provides students and parents access to daily lesson material online;
  • a rural school teacher provides their split class with online learning materials to access anytime;
  • a classroom teacher using technology to allow students to access work outside of class time and to hand in their work; or
  • peer editing and collaboration that takes place at school and at home and guided by teachers – either online, in classrooms, or other learning environments.

Who are we?

We are a volunteer group of Alberta teachers and administrators who believe in fostering blended and online learning.  We feel there is a need in the province for a structured dialogue and sharing at a Symposium.

What is blendED?

Whether in an Outreach program, learning centre, distance learning program or classroom, teachers are using the online environment to expand and extend learning opportunities, building flexibility to student learning.  The blendED Symposium is designed to share emerging practices while providing opportunities for networking with sessions that will inspire and provoke delegates to think outside the traditional learning environment.

Why a symposium?

Blended and online learning is becoming more prevalent in our day-to-day teaching environments.
The focus of our Symposium is on using technology to enhance and extend learning and applying flexible learning strategies in various learning spaces.

Sessions are designed to engage dialogue and delegates will take away strategies they can apply in their own blended and online practice.

The Symposium will provide valuable professional development opportunities for Alberta teachers, with any level of experience, and sharing opportunities for Alberta education leaders.

Join us at the Symposium to share your blended learning story and learn from others.
